The Backstory to JCD Racing

The Backstory to JCD Racing

John Capestro-Dubets A.K.A JCD is an American Sports Car driver based in San Diego, CA. Since a young boy, JCD has had a passion for motorized vehicles. In 2009 JCD was convinced by his family that it was time to pursue this passion. His family believed the best investment he could make was in himself. So it all started at the Skip Baber Race School at Laguna Seca. JCD grew up living only a few miles from the track and went to the track throughout his childhood to watch races with his Dad. After completing the Skip Barber Race School JCD went on to run MX-5 Cup hosted by Skip Barber earning 9 podium finishes and earning Rookie of the year. After MX-5 JCD landed an opportunity on the Bimmerworld Race Team driving in former Grand-AM's ST class. The car was a BMW E90 328i. While with Bimmerworld JCD earned 5 more podium finishes as well as helping BMW to win the Manufacturers Championship in 2012 by being the highest finishing BMW in the field. After a good run with Bimmerworld reality of the sport being a business and the politics finally caught up. JCD was without a seat in 2014. With no financial backing and or ride for the season, JCD was forced to leave the sport and get a job selling used cars while working as a driving instructor on the weekends. In 2015 things changed almost overnight. JCD got a call to come race with Jason Hart in the new WRL race series. Returning home JCD went to visit his friend Ryan Lindsley at the Bimmerspeed service shop in San Diego, CA and share his experiences. That day the two decided it was time to take things into their own hands and started working together. Ryan quickly offered his skills, shop and time as wells donors cars to get the team started. A deal was formed and they had a race car in just 45 days, in fact, the car was built before the name of the team was even decided. Three seasons later the newly name DasBoot Motorsports team had achieved 26 podium finishes and one championship in the WERC series. In 2019 JCD partnered with NolaSport to drive alongside Mike Vess in the Vess Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman #46 in the SRO GT4 America Sprint-X Series. Since then JCD has gone one to compete with Autotechnic in SRO GT4 America along side multiple co-drivers. In 2022 JCD won his first professional drivers Championship with PPM in Lamborghini Super Trofeo driving co-driving with Bryson Lew. With 7 total victories and 5 class pole position starts.
